Amino Methyl Propanol (AMP)

 Synonyms:  AMP; AMP-95; 2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol; Isobutanolamine; Amino-2-Methylpropanol; Hydroxymethyl-2-propylamine

Uses:  Used as an emulsifier and a buffering agent; pH control; water solubility of resin film in hair sprays and makes the finished film more resistant to humidity.

 Hazard:  Causes severe irritation. Inhalation may be fatal as a result of spasm, inflammation, and edema of laryns and bronchi, chemical pneumonitis, and pulmonary edema. Symptoms of exposure may include burning sensation, coughing, wheezing, laryngitis, shortness of breath, headache, nausea and vomiting.
