Dioctyl Adipate

CAS#: 103-23-1

Synonyms: DOA;  bis((2-ethylhexyl) hexanedioate; di(2-ethylhexyl) adipate; hexanedioc acid, bis (2-ethylfexyl) ester.

Uses: Plasticizer, commonly blended with general purpose plasticizers such as DOP and DIOP; in processing polyvinyl and other polymers; solvent; aircraft lubricants.

Hazard: Liquid may cause mild eye irritation.  Repeated or prolonged skin contact may cause irritation.  BIS(2-ETHYLHEXYL) ADIPATE is an ester. Esters react with acids to liberate heat along with alcohols and acids.  Strong oxidizing acids may cause a vigorous reaction that is sufficiently exothermic to ignite the reaction products.  Heat is also generated by the interaction of esters with caustic solutions.  Flammable hydrogen is generated by mixing esters with alkali metals and hydrides. Can generate electrostatic charges.  This chemical is incompatible with oxidizing materials and water.  It is also incompatible with nitrates
